Member-only story
I’m sorry, I ran out of words.
You were shooting too many fireworks,
launching this moment backwards.
Let’s start over with a blank slate.
Forget about the past decrepit state,
It takes a little grime to become great —
Stumbling lets you see what’s at stake.
We can hold on to grudges
and act like crass judges.
Live in resentment
and forget our investment.
Or turn this cruel slander
into our witty banter.
Either bury the hatchet
and stop acting ratchet.
Or walk our separate ways
and set those dreams ablaze.
I’ll leave the choice to you,
Is it time to discontinue?
My words don’t misconstrue,
I still love you.
To love is to let go,
to forgive is to grow,
to persist is to glow.
We get to write this show.
What you lose eventually comes back
I can’t wait until you let me unpack,
I’m not here for a counterattack,
Or from the truth am I trying to distract.
I just want to interact —
stop the quarrel’s protract.
Prove, love is strong enough to adapt.
So here’s a sign —
I’ll be waiting on the time,
when the words we’ll find.
