What would the sea be without its gull?
Isn’t that obnoxious squawk as classic as the waves crash?
The persistence of a hungry seabird,
scrounging through the trash
with surprising brilliance.
A doofus with wings,
hilarious and annoying,
gregarious and cloying.
The sea’s special friend, feeding on its riches, taking shelter in its fog.
On every dock, every shore, a mangy flock, a winged horde.
Gull on, you sea rats of the sky.
Characters of the coast,
Bastards of the beach.
